This is a four-story historic townhouse with no elevator, and every bedroom sits above the entrance level. Plan around it: the rear rooms sit on shallower floors than the front, so give a back bedroom to anyone who minds stairs and send the sure-footed to the top. Two of the fourth-floor bedrooms connect, which is the practical answer for families with younger children who want to stay within earshot.
